Membership

Tähtitieteilijäseuran jäseneksi voi pyrkiä tähtitieteellistä tai siihen liittyvää tutkimusta tekevä henkilö. Jäseneksi hakevat hyväksyy seuran hallitus. Kannattajajäseneksi voi hallituksen kutsusta päästä henkilö tai yhteisö, joka haluaa tukea tähtitieteellistä tutkimus- ja yhteistyötä.

The membership of the Finnish Astronomical society is open for persons working or studying astronomical or closely related fields. The applicants are accepted by the board. Support membership is open to individuals or organisations wanting to support astronomical research and collaboration.

Jäsenmaksu

Membership fee

Jäsenmaksun suuruus päätetään vuosittain vuosikokouksessa. Vuodesta 2016 alkaen jäsenmaksu on 25 € / vuosi väitelleiltä tutkijoilta ja 15 € / vuosi opiskelijoilta.

Jäsenmaksu maksetaan seuran lähettämällä laskulla viitenumeroa käyttäen. Mikäli et ole saanut jäsenkirjettä tai jäsenmaksulaskua, ilmoita siitä osoitteeseen info at ttseura.fi.

The membership fee is decided for each year in the annual meeting. As of 2016 the membership fee is 25 € per year for researchers and 15 € per year for students.

How to join

Jos haluat liittyä seuraan, lähetä lyhyt vapaamuotoinen hakemus osoitteeseen info at ttseura.fi. Hakemuksesta tulisi ilmetä yhteystietojesi lisäksi esim. instituutti (yliopisto tai työnantaja) tai muuten käydä ilmi miten työskentelet alalla sekä haluatko liittyä myös EAS:iin.

In order to join the society send a free-form application to info at ttseura.fi. In addition to contact details (Name, email address), please include your place of residence and whether you wish to be EAS member (see below more details and the online form for the EAS membership); also you should mention your institute (university, employer, etc.)

Vuoden 2019 alusta alkaen jokainen Suomen Tähtitieteilijäseuran jäsen on automaattisesti myös EAS:n jäsen, kunhan suostuu luovuttamaan tietonsa EAS:n käyttöön. Tätä varten Tähtitieteilijäseura on tehnyt web-lomakkeen, jossa tarvittavat tiedot voi antaa: linkki lomakkeeseen. Tiedot toimitetaan EAS:lle vuosittain. Luethan EAS:n säännöt ennen lomakkeen lähettämistä.

Since the beginning of 2019 all members of FAS are also automatically members of EAS, as long as the member gives her/his consent to send this information to the EAS. You can fill in your information by filling the form: link to the form. The information will be sent to EAS annually. Please read the EAS constitution and by-laws before submitting.

Yhdistyslaki velvoittaa yhdistystä keräämään jäsenen nimen sekä kotipaikan. Seura kerää myös jäsenten sähköpostiosoitteet tiedotusta ym. yhteydenottoja varten. Tähtitieteilijäseuran jäsenet voivat halutessaan myös European Astronomical Societyn (EAS) jäseniksi. EAS vaatii jäseniltään laajemman joukon tietoja, kuten oppiarvon (ks. alla). EAS:n pyytämät tiedot toimitetaan vuosittain EAS:n jäsenrekisterin ylläpitäjälle.

Tiedot kerätään jäseniltä itseltään web-lomakkeella.

Henkilötietoja luovutetaan European Astronomical Societylle, mikäli Tähtitieteilijäseuran jäsen haluaa olla myös EAS:n jäsen. Muita tietoja voidaan luovuttaa rekisteröityjen erillisellä suostumuksella. Tietoja siirretään mahdollisesti EU:n tai Euroopan talousalueen ulkopuolella sijaitseville palvelimille, sillä ne kerätään Google Drive -pilvipalvelussa. Googlen palvelu noudattaa EU:n yksityisyydensuoja-asetusta (lisätietoja).

Tietoja säilytetään digitaalisessa muodossa Google Drive -palvelussa. Ne on suojattu käyttäjätunnuksella, salasanalla sekä erillisellä "2-step authorization" -vahvistuksella. Pääsy tietoihin on Tähtitieteilijäseuran hallituksella.

Tiedot pyydetään jäsenen liittyessä ja niitä säilytetään jäsenyyden ajan.

Tietoja käsittelee Tähtitieteilijäseuran hallitus. Voimme tarvittaessa ulkoistaa henkilötietojen käsittelyn osittain kolmannelle osapuolelle, jolloin takaamme sopimusjärjestelyin, että henkilötietoja käsitellään voimassa olevan tietosuojalainsäädännön mukaisesti ja muutoin asianmukaisesti.

Tietojen käsittely ei sisällä automaattista päätöksentekoa tai profilointia.

Jokaisella rekisteröidyllä on tietojensa käsittelyä koskeva:

- Tarkastusoikeus eli oikeus tarkistaa rekisteriin tallennetut henkilötiedot. Jos tiedoissa ilmenee virheellisyyksiä tai puutteita, voi rekisteröity pyytää korjaamaan tai täydentämään tiedot oikeiksi.

- Vastustamisoikeus eli oikeus vastustaa henkilötietojensa käsittelyä, mikäli rekisteröity kokee, että henkilötietoja on käsitelty lainvastaisesti tai ilman asianmukaista oikeutta.

- Poisto-oikeus eli oikeus pyytää poistamaan rekisteriin tallennettuja tietoja. Rekisteröidyllä on lisäksi oikeus rajoittaa tietojen käsittelyä.

- Tiedonsiirto-oikeus eli oikeus siirtää tietojaan järjestelmästä toiseen.

- Valitusoikeus eli oikeus tehdä valitus tietosuojavaltuutetulle, jos rekisteröity kokee, että henkilötietojen käsitelyssä on rikottu voimassa olevaa tietosuojalainsäädäntöä.

Rekisterinpitäjä voi kieltäytyä toteuttamasta vastustamista tai poistoa koskevaa pyyntöä ainoastaan laissa säädetyin perustein. Mikäli rekisterinpitäjä ei suostu rekisteröidyn vaatimuksiin, on rekisteröidyllä oikeus tehdä valitus tietosuojavaltuutetulle. Rekisteröidyllä on myös oikeus vaatia, että kiistanalaisten tietojen käsittelyä rajoitetaan siksi aikaa, kunnes asia saadaan ratkaistuksi. (Lähde)

Tätä selostetta koskevat yhteydenotot ja pyynnöt tulee esittää Tähtitieteilijäseuran hallitukselle kohdissa 1 ja 2 annettuihin osoitteisiin, ensisijaisesti sähköpostitse.

Mikäli Seuran hallitus muuttaa tätä selostetta, muutokset laitetaan näkyville selosteeseen päivättyinä. Mikäli muutokset ovat merkittäviä, niistä voidaan informoida myös muulla tavoin, kuten sähköpostitse tai laittamalla sivuillemme asiasta ilmoituksen.

Membership registry of the Finnish Astronomical Society.

The membership registry contains the regular members and those who have joined as supporting members.

The Finnish Associations Act requires the collection of a member’s name and city/region of residence. FAS also collects members’ email addresses for the purpose of communication and dissemination of information. If they so choose, members can also join the European Astronomical Society (EAS). EAS requires further information on its members, including educational level (see below). The data required by EAS are given yearly to the administrator of the EAS membership registry.

From the members of FAS:

• Name
• Hometown
• Email address

From the members of EAS also:

• Gender (male / female / non-binary / other, what / do not want to disclose)
• Title (Prof / Dr / no title)
• Institute and institutional contact info
• Phone number (not required)
• Nationality
• IAU member (yes/no)
• EAS membership status (junior / ordinary / non-member)
• Possible membership in other EAS-affiliated societies
• Website (not required)
• Research field (not required)
• Start of PhD (year) or PhD obtained (year).

The information is collected from the members through an online form.

Personal data is shared with EAS only if the FAS member wants to also join EAS. Other information can be shared with the consent of the member. Data may be transferred outside of the EU or ETA region, as they are collected through the Google Drive cloud service. Google’s services adhere to the GDPR laws (more information).

Information is stored digitally on the Google Drive platform. They are protected with a user ID, password, and the strong 2-step authorization process. Members of the FAS board have access to this platform.

Information is requested when a member joins and is kept for the duration of the membership. The data of inactive members will be kept for a period of up to two years.

The data are handled by the board of FAS. If necessary, the partial handling of member data can be outsourced to a third party. In this case, the Society will ensure by an agreement that the member data are handled according to the GDPR.

Usage of member data does not include automatic decision-making or profiling.

Every data subject has the following rights:

- Right of access: the right of the member to confirm their personal data. If mistakes or omissions are found, the data subject may ask for the information to be rectified or completed.

- Right to object: In certain situations, the data subject has the right to object to the processing of their personal data, that is, request the controller not to process it at all.

- Right to erasure: the right to request personal data be erased. The data subject has the right to restrict handling of their data.

- Right to data portability: The data subject has the right to receive the personal data that he or she has provided to a controller in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and, if desired, transmit that data to another controller.

- The right to object: the right to object to the office of the data protection ombudsman if they feel their data protection rights have been broken.

The registrar has the right to refuse to honor a request for objection or erasure only on the grounds specified by law. If the registrar does not comply with requests by the data subject, the data subject may make an official complaint to the data protection ombudsman. The data subject also has the right to request restriction of processing of the controversial data until the issue is resolved. (Source)

Requests and questions related to this privacy policy are to be addressed to the board of the Finnish Astronomical Society at the addresses mentioned in Sections 1 and 2, though preferably through email.

If the FAS board chooses to make changes to the privacy policy, the changes will be made clear in the updated policy. In case the changes are significant, the Society may choose to inform its members in other ways, for example through email or a post on the Society’s website.
